Kites

Well, everyone wants to see the kites so here they are. They are called White Tail Kites. At first I thought they were just seagulls but once I got out with my camera it was immediately clear they weren't. I call them the ballerinas of the sky. They hover over the field next to us almost every day and are really pretty to watch fly. I've never seen them catch anything, but they always come back so they must find something to eat.

They definitely don't like people. I've struggled to get good pictures of them for weeks. B's dad was definitely good luck as I finally got some nice shots. I could probably even print a few of the below as 8x10s.

As always, click on the imagine for a bigger version.

Enjoy!

Close up pictures from late in the day (hence the very blue sky). Just imagine the wire is a branch. :)

Here are some from head on from a different day (not as good sky):

And finally from the side (same time as the ones above):

These are really excellent captures Chris. I, as you, love photographing these raptors and realize how tough to get close to them. LOVE them.

Excellent shots! Can't imagine what results would be if you had a "big lens".
